Work on the most awaited Belagavi Ring Road to commence soon

BM Bureau, June 5 : The work on the most awaited and much talked about Ring Road around Belagavi , a dream project of late Belagavi MP Suresh Angadi, is expected to commence soon as Government of Karnataka has agreed to bear the 50 % land acquisition cost.

The Regional Officer, NHAI, Bengaluru, had brought to the notice of Karnataka Government that NHAI is taking up the Belagavi Ring Road project on top priority and currently Detailed Project Report (DPR) is in advanced stage of finalization.

The estimated Land Acquisition cost for the project is approximately Rs 280 crores for the construction of 4 Laning of Belagavi Ring Road having 69.25 km length. NHAI had requested the State Government to accord consent for bearing 50% of Land Acquisition cost for further appraisal and approval of the project.

“The State Government hereby accords in-principal approval to bear 50% of land acquisition cost (i.e. Rs.140 crores) for the construction of Belagavi Ring Road in the State of Karnataka; Therefore, NHAI is requested to take up the construction of Ring road for Belagavi, Karnataka,” K S Krishna Reddy, Secretary, Public Works Department has directed NHAI in his letter dated June 4 in reply to the NHAI after examination of the Proposal,

The proposed Ring Road and the 12 km Macche-Halaga 12 km by-pass are expected to ease the traffic of heavy vehicles and other long distance vehicles entering Belagavi city causing traffic congestion and accidents.
