BM Bureau, July 15 : The Belagavi Police have busted a NEET racket involving 1.8 crore and have arrested Arvind Alias Arun Kumar, a native of Hyderabad. The accused has been arrested from Mumbai for cheating students by promising them to increase the marks in the NEET exam.
Belgaum Market Police who arrested the accused have also seized Rs 12 lakh cash and 15 computers, 5 mobile phones, laptops and other valuables from the accused.
Briefing media persons Deputy Commissioner of Police (L&O) Rohan Jagdish said that acting against a FIR that was registered at Market Police Station in November 2023, it was found that the accused had cheated many students in Belagavi region and looted about one crore and eight lakh rupees.
“Cases have been registered against the accused in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Bhopal police. The accused person is an MBA and he was about to open a coaching centre in Mumbai. He lured many students assuring them of additional marks in the NEET and took lakhs of rupees,” DCP Jagdish said.
After checking his background and investigating the entire case, the market police have taken a major action and in this way, the multi-state level racket involved in the NEET exam scam has been exposed. A case has been registered in the market police station and further investigation is underway. The accused has been reprimanded to judicial custody.
