Shopkeepers are purring and dancing their way to bank as demand far outstrips supply of Leopard spot printed ready-made trousers, shirts, mugs, stationery etc, as citizens of Belagavi throng to buy the in thing.
A restaurant is reported to have named a non veg dish as ‘The Lepord’s favorite’. The over burdened chef has resigned as he could not cope with plethora of orders.
Anything with a spot is sold out faster than the real leopard run.
Many shopkeepers and traders are rationing the products, limiting each lepord fan to 1 set each. There are reports of long queues outside shops.
However citizens are waiting patiently for their turn and praying that stock does not run out.
Traders and shopkeepers, meanwhile have not jacked up the prices, inspite of astronomical demand. This is to show solidarity with the lone animal fighting for survival against an army of government officials hell bent on capturing it or worse.
This Ganesh Chaturthi citizens are praying in silence for safety of the lone leopard who’s battling it alone.
After all Belgamites love cats, big or small 🐈
