BM Bureau, July 27 : Minister for PWD and Belagavi District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi has stated that all the major and minor bridges in Khanapur taluka and along the Belagavi – Goa road via Chorla road will be repaired while the dilapidated bridge near Kusmalli on River Malaprabha will be repaired soon after the rainy season. He was speaking to media persons after the flood situation review in Khanapur taluka on Friday.
Minister Jarkiholi on Friday inspected various flood affected areas in Khanapur taluka and also inspected the Kusmalli Bridge on Belagavi-Goa Road via Chorla connecting Belagavi and Jamboti. He also listened to the grievances of the people from different villages at Khanapur taluka at the Khanapur IB.
“Movement of heavy vehicles has been banned on the Kusmalli Bridge as a precautionary measure. Tenders have been floated for the repair and completion of Belagavi Goa NH748A and Chorla Road till Goa state border and also for the construction of new bridge at Kusmalli. The new bridge will be be constructed after soon after the rainy season is over,” Minister Jarkiholi assured
He also informed that after visiting the flood prone areas in the district he said that there is no flood situation in Belagavi district. He also stated that if 80 percent of the 15 villages within the Bhimgarh Wildlife Sanctuary periphery bordering Karnataka Goa border would be if over 80 percent villagers agree if not every possible development would be taken up. However, as no road can be constructed to these villages due to forest restrictions he said. A meeting in this regard has been held in this regard with the forest minister Jarkiholi said.
