BM Bureau, Aug 30: Amid COVID-19 crisis as heart rending scenes are witness all over, a group of youngsters under the banner of ‘Facebook Friends’ are rendering yeoman services.
On Sunday the team reached Central Bus Stand (CBT), Belagavi and met three elderly women who stay in pathetic conditions of the vicinity of the filthy area inside the campus.
Akkatai Anant Kamat an old lady, Yallava Hannikeri and her daughter Shoba Hannekeri stay there . They are homeless . The team gifted grocery items containing 5 kg rice, 4 kg each of big and small rava, 4 kg jiggery and other materials.
“One of our friend Mr Sandesh Donyanavar had given us the above mentioned grocery items,” stated Santosh Darekar who accompanied by Sagar Patil and others were engaged in this act of compassion.
Earlier too the team has engaged in this acts of compassion and have helped the real needy on streets. “ We have helped these women by providing blankets, clothes and other materials, I appeal people to come forward and support the elderly people in need . If any one wants to meet these women on at CBT they can contact Basheer K Mulla & Rafiq Maderkhande who are available at the rickshaw stand outside CBT.
“These women are leading a pathetic life. One of the women sits on the steps of the toilet and collects coins to make the living. If anyone can help them get admitted in an old age home or a government shelter it would be a great act,” Santosh appealed.
We also have 2 oxygen cylinders that can be given to the needy and after the use we will refill them and give it to the needy patients, Santosh said adding the group also organises blood donation for needy and deserving patients.
