The Doddanavars’ journey began with their time at JNMC in the 1980s gaining valuable medical education. After years of private practice and teaching assignments at Medical Colleges, a yearning to establish their own hospital arose, but fate intervened. Dr. Ramesh’s near-fatal accident in 1996 forced a pause for over 5 years. His resilience shone through as he endured several surgeries, recovered and returned to practice. Finally, in 2000, their dream materialized with the foundation of DMC at Goods Shed Road in Belagavi’s central location.
Overcoming Challenges, Embracing Growth:
Initial hurdles included securing a loan since nationalised banks hesitated to lend money to Hospitals back then. It was overcome with the support of Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank. The hospital’s growth has been steady ever since, earning the trust of thousands of people of Belgaum and nearby areas. The Doddanavars’ commitment to providing cutting-edge care is evident in their continuous investment in modern equipment, expanding facilities and bringing in specialist care. This year alone saw upgrades to latest endoscopy machines, ventilators, Ultrasound Machines, X-Ray machine, Pacemakers and C-ARM machine for advanced imaging in the OT.

As a multi-specialty hospital, DMC offers a comprehensive range of services, including Total Hip and Knee Replacement surgeries and advanced endoscopic procedures. Recognizing the growing concern of diabetes, they’ve established a dedicated Diabetes Center with a Diabetes Club that meets regularly to support patients. Their dedication extended to becoming a Covid care center during the pandemic and also administering vaccines to over 10,000 individuals.
