BM Bureau July 19 : The Belagavi Neurosciences Association (BNA) was inaugurated on Friday. Belagavi SP Dr Bhimashankar Guled was the chief guest of the inauguration function that was held at the auditorium of Hotel UK27 Friday evening. Noted neurologist Dr G M Wali who has been elected as the president of the association presided over the function.
In his address SP Dr Guled expressed deep concern over the rising cases of quackery in the district. He also raised concern over the rising deaths due to accidents which he said were the highest in Belagavi district. “While the police is doing its best to identify and act against quackery in the district, the medical fraternity too needs to organise efforts in identifying the same as the quack doctors and their clinics are misleading the patients and adversely affecting the medical fraternity,” Dr Guled said.
Stating that 808 fatal accidents were reported in Belagavi district other than Belagavi city and taluka last year and 390 till now , 55 percent accidents were of bike riders without helmets Dr Guled appealed the neurosurgeons to join hands with the police to prevent accidents and create awareness so that mortality due to accidents could be brought down.
“Neurosurgeons can work miracles and bring back the patient alive from the jaws of death. I appeal the neurosurgeons fraternity to organise outreach programs and train doctors at local levels for treating the patients during ‘ Golden Hour’ which will enable saving many lives,” Dr Guled appealed.
Dr Raviraj Ghorpade welcomed the gathering and briefed about the need to form the association. Secretary Dr Ravi Ichalkaranji said that the association has been formed to create awareness among people in association with the government authorities, training medical and nursing students, to support state of art rehabilitation centres and to support families of the patients suffering due to neurological disorders and also conducting CME
President of the association Dr G M Wali gave presentation of the history of neurosurgeons in Karnataka and Belagavi.
Treasurer Dr Abhishek Patil , Executive Committee members Executive Members Dr Raviraj Ghorpade , Dr Ravishankar Naik, Dr Praful Maste and neurosurgeons and neurophysicians from Belagavi city and district were present.
