August 21 : The inaugural function of the district-level football and boxing tournament was held Monday morning at the St Paul’s PU College campus. Prof B Y Hannur the in charge DDPU who inaugurated the tournament urged participating institutions to follow the sportsmanship spirit during the tournament. Senior Journalist Louis Rodrigues was the guest of honour.
The inaugural function began with the guard of honour presented by the NCC cadets of the college. The women staff also offered the arti. Later the tournament was inaugurated the tournament by lighting the lamp.
DDPU Prof Hannur appreciated the impeccable arrangements made by St Paul’s PU College professionally. “ This is the first time I am experiencing such elaborate arrangements within a short period of time,” he said
Director of St Paul’s group of institutions Fr Simon Fernandes, Director of the PU College Fr Steven Almeida, Principal of the College Dr Padmini Ravindran, Dy Tahsildar of Belagavi P Santosh,Coordinator of the PU Department Shridhar Hiremath were also present.
Boxing Coach & Mentor Vishwanath Charantimath, Physical Education Instructor John Dalmet, Vijay Redekar, Dinesh Padki, and the team are coordinating the tournament. The prize distribution ceremony will be held on Tuesday.
Amruta Tanawade was the Master of Ceremony. A welcome dance was performed by Rutika Nilajkar while the college cabinet and volunteers conducted a power packed dance.
